ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

At the Headland Hotel, we aim to offer high levels of hospitality to all our guests, regardless of any permanent or temporary disability, medical condition or other specific requirements. This Access Statement is designed to give you the information you need to assess how effectively we can meet your particular needs.

PRIOR TO ARRIVAL

Reservations can be made by telephone or email.

The hotel is located approximately 1 mile from Torquay railway and bus stations. We can easily arrange a taxi for you on request. Wheelchair-suitable vehicles are available if necessary. Directions to the hotel can be found on the website.

ARRIVAL

There are designated disabled parking bays adjacent to the front entrance, all public rooms are on the ground floor with a level entrance to the hotel. The reception desk is 1045 mm high. Assistance with luggage is always available, and this can be collected from/delivered to your car if required. The foyer is all on one level. The gardens are level in places, although it is necessary to use two flights of 6 steps to access the garden from the patio.

PUBLIC AREAS

The Foyer, Gallery Lounge Bar, Terrace, Reception and The Romanoff Restaurant are all on one level. One lift serves all floors, although some bedrooms are accessed up some steps; please let us know at the time of booking if you have any particular needs in this respect. Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s toilets are both located on the ground floor close to reception, as is the Disabled WC. Background music does play, albeit at a low level. There is entertainment in the Gallery Lounge Bar on selected evenings. The hotel does not have a hearing loop installed. There is access to the Terrace that leads from the car park, located outside the hotel’s front entrance. Our Wellness facilities are found on the left of our lobby when entering the hotel, in order to be able to access the Spa facilities you will need to check in at reception, where our reception team will assist you and instruct you how to get into our secure wellness area. Our Hydro pools are accessed by six steps to get to the heated pools, we also have a stairlift up the pool level to assist you should you require.

ACCOMMODATION

The hotel has 1 bedroom specifically designed for use by guests with impaired mobility, other rooms, however, are not but our Staff are more than happy to discuss your particular requirements. Being an older building, bedrooms vary in terms of shape and size. However, many will be suitable for guests with minor disabilities so do please feel free to call us and let our Reception team assist you.

GENERAL

All information such as menus, bedroom information and tariffs can be printed in larger fonts if so required. Service dogs are accepted at the hotel by prior arrangement. There is an “Aid to Living” shop in Paignton from where it is possible to hire a range of specialist equipment; we can provide their details on request.

We have tried to be accurate and as comprehensive as possible in the preparation of this Access Statement. All Staff are more than happy to assist in any way possible to ensure that you have a very enjoyable stay at The Headland Hotel.
